It's mostly level on the way in, some up and down but just a pleasant hike. This trail goes over East Peak and to the junction of the Loop Trail. This is a difficult trail due to its length, verticle gains and losses, and navigation. We took the Parker Ridge trail up to Tumbledown Pond which was longer but much easier than either the Brook Trail or Tumbledown Trail. It levels out once you reach the ridge, which affords fantastic views and a refreshing breeze not found below the treeline. To reach the tarn right below the summit of Tumbledown, you have essentially four options: the 1.9-mile Brook Trail, the 2.9-mile Parker Ridge Trail, the 2-mile Loop Trail, and the 3.4-mile trek up the first part of Little Jackson trail over to Pond Link. Trail Work If you have been to Tumbledown in the past few years you know that the Brook Trail has been reconstructed; in some places years of erosion required rerouting of the trail.
